Specifications

CSI sections, ASTM standards, and submittals — for every system we install.

A working reference for design teams. The deep dive below is for CSI 09 66 23 — Resinous Matrix Terrazzo, our flagship system. Specs for cementitious terrazzo, precast, polished concrete, industrial coatings, and restoration follow at the bottom of the page.

Part 1.5 — Submittals

Submittal package, delivered in 14 days.

Every item below ships in one formatted PDF, indexed to your submittal log. Editable Word format available for the spec section itself.

  • Manufacturer's product data sheets for resin, primer, MVB, and sealer
  • Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for all installed products
  • Shop drawings — divider strip layout, control joint locations, transitions
  • Color samples — 6" × 6" poured, ground, and polished to project finish
  • Aggregate samples and final aggregate schedule
  • Concrete moisture test plan and results (ASTM F2170 / F1869)
  • Installer qualifications — NTMA contractor membership in good standing
  • Manufacturer's installation instructions and warranty
  • Maintenance instructions for owner closeout
  • LEED documentation (EPDs, HPDs, Declare labels, regional content)

Part 3 — Execution

QA/QC built into every pour.

The quality gates below appear in our standard spec language and in every install. They're how we close out projects with zero punch on the terrazzo scope.

  • Pre-installation mock-up — minimum 4' × 4', approved by architect and owner
  • Substrate moisture testing at three locations per 1,000 sq ft before primer
  • Tape-pull adhesion test on prepped substrate before priming
  • Daily field reports with temperature, humidity, batch numbers, and pour photos
  • Manufacturer field rep visit at job start when project exceeds 5,000 sq ft
  • Final acceptance walk with owner before floor protection is installed

Other systems we spec

CSI sections and standards for every floor we install.

Each system has its own spec section, its own ASTM references, and its own submittal expectations. The cards below summarize what your spec writer needs to know; the linked service page covers the full system.

CSI 09 66 13

Cementitious Terrazzo

Portland Cement Terrazzo Flooring

Sand-cushion, bonded, monolithic, and polyacrylate-modified variants. Thicker section (1/2"–3") and longer cure than epoxy.

Key standards

  • NTMA Technical Bulletins
  • ASTM C33 (aggregates)
  • ASTM C150 (Portland cement)
  • ASTM C1028 (slip resistance)

CSI 09 66 16

Precast Terrazzo

Terrazzo Tile Flooring (precast units)

Shop-cast treads, risers, bases, wall panels, and logo medallions. Installed with epoxy or thinset depending on substrate.

Key standards

  • NTMA Precast Standards
  • ASTM C241 (abrasion)
  • ASTM C580 (flexural)
  • ANSI A137.1 (tile)
